Bridget Macdonald

Bridget Macdonald provides communications support for the North Atlantic LCC, and writes about the work partners are doing to advance conservation science and action across the region in the face of climate change and development. Her background in science communication includes experience in journalism, research, and more than a decade working as a seasonal park ranger for Cape Cod National Seashore, developing interpretive programs and materials to educate visitors about park resources.

Bridget earned an M.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University in 2009, reporting on economics, agriculture, and the environment, and an M.S. in Environmental Conservation from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 2013. During her time at UMass, she provided communications support as a research assistant for Outsmart Invasive Species, a citizen-science project using smartphones to map invasive species. After graduating, she worked for two years at the coordinator of the iCons Program, an academic program for undergraduate STEM majors who learn how to collaborate to produce meaningful science as part of interdisciplinary teams.
