Take advantage of Maine's Free Fishing Weekend on Saturday, February 15, 2020.

Discover the basics of ice fishing on Chalk Pond in Beddington with the Downeast Salmon Federation. Join us on February 15th from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm (Snow Date Sunday, February 16) and enjoy an afternoon out on the ice! DSF Fisheries Biologist, Brett Ciccotelli, will provide equipment and advice to kids of all ages.

Meanwhile snowshoe enthusiasts can join Land Trust Director Tanya Rucosky exploring the nearby Little Narraguagus Preserve. Whether you are five or fifty, take this opportunity to appreciate one of Maine’s favorite winter pastimes!

Chalk Pond and Little Narraguagus Preserves are part of DSF’s Land Trust and include 2,400 feet of shoreline, nearly a mile of salmon stream, and 93 acres of land. DSF preserves are protected for the enjoyment of the community and for wildlife conservation in perpetuity. Both Chalk Pond and Little Narraguagus Preserves are part of a DSF’s campaign to conserve 35 miles of river frontage, ensuring public access, as well as protecting and restoring habitat for Atlantic salmon and other sea-run fish.

To get to Chalk Pond Preserve, look for DSF’s signs on the east side of Rt. 193 near the Route 9 intersection in Bedington, ME.

Snowshoers--Rally at the Airline Snack Bar at 2 pm. to visit the Little Narraguagus Preserve.
